Welcome to Deeside Camera Club’s website.
The club is based in Royal Deeside, west of the city of Aberdeen in Scotland.
Assignment 3 – On The Road – Placed Images
New members of all abilities are always welcome at our weekly meetings.
We have meetings every Wednesday evening during the club year and offer members a varied programme of talks and presentations on a variety of topics, some from guest speakers and some from within the club’s own ranks where knowledge sharing is the aim. We also have practical sessions on some evenings and plenty of opportunities for members to show their work.
We encourage participation and knowledge sharing but you are free to take as active a part as you want in the club’s activities.
The Club year runs from September to May and during that time we run 6 Assignments where each member can submit 3 images on a set theme. The images are then judged and feedback is provided by the judge in a group session. These sessions are always very popular with members and include a mildly competitive element but more importantly the aim is to provide constructive feedback on the images so that members gain new skills and explore different genres with confidence.
We also run a number of Special Interest Groups such as Urban, Wildlife, Landscape and Portrait, with arranged photo shoots and on location meet-ups at weekends that offer opportunities to get your camera out and learn new skills. These are very popular and have become a key activity for the club.
We have a member only Facebook group. This is often the best way to keep in touch with other members between meetings. We have a weekly photo challenge on the Facebook group which is very popular and a great way for members to share images. There is also a public Facebook page to showcase the group’s activities to a wider audience. Meetings are held in the Aboyne and Mid-Deeside Community Shed. These meetings are primarily in-person social events but we do also share the meetings on Zoom for participants who cannot make it to the Community Shed.
